Local members of Pontyclun Community Council recently made a visit to Ivor Park, home of MacWhirter Welsh League club, Pontyclun FC to review progress of the building of new changing facilities that are scheduled for completion by the end of the current season.
Club Secretary, Peter Shilton said “We have two senior teams and a youth team in the Welsh League and a number of mini and junior teams at various age levels. Our current facilities are outdated for present and future needs and a recent restructuring of senior leagues in Wales by the FAW means that clubs now have to meet improved standards at their grounds. The new changing facility will be located in a much better position at our ground and will include four separate changing/shower areas to accommodate both senior and junior needs. We will also have a large hospitality/meeting room with a kitchen area to provide refreshments, etc., to spectators and visiting teams. We have worked extremely hard at the Club to obtain the necessary planning approvals and raise sufficient funds to build this new facility and we are extremely grateful to those in the local community who have supported this project in different ways. In particular, we really appreciate the commitment given by Pontyclun Community Council to make a financial contribution of £10,000 towards the project”.
Carole Willis, Chair of Pontyclun Community Council said “The Council are delighted to support the Football Club in developing this new facility which will serve them and the local community for many years in the future”.
The Club has been running a successful “Buy a Brick” Scheme as part of its fund raising activities for this project whereby for a modest sum of £50 a permanent record recognising the contribution made will be provided inside the main entrance of the building.
